Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Emre Çakıroğlu (“we,” “us,” or “our”) processes information when you use MailPop (the “App”) and our website (mailpop.app).
1. What MailPop does
MailPop helps you connect email accounts (such as Google Gmail and Microsoft Outlook) and receive real-time notification previews on your device.
2. Information we process
MailPop is designed to minimize data collection. Depending on what you connect and enable, the App may process:
- Account information: connected email address (to display the account in the App), and authentication tokens required by your email provider.
- Email data for notifications: sender, subject, timestamp, unread status, and a short snippet/preview when provided by the email provider.
- App settings (local): preferences you choose in the App (notification style, linked accounts list, etc.).
Important: MailPop does not store your full email content on our servers.
3. Cookies & similar technologies
At this time, we do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics cookies on mailpop.app. We may use strictly necessary cookies or similar technical storage for basic site operation and security.
Our Support form uses human-verification (Cloudflare Turnstile) to help prevent spam and abuse. This may involve processing technical information (such as your IP address and browser metadata) for security purposes.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. If we add analytics or advertising technologies in the future, we will update this policy before enabling them.
4. Where your data is stored
By default, MailPop processes data on your device. Connected account tokens and app settings are stored locally on your device to keep you signed in and to operate the notification features.
We do not operate a backend that stores your inbox data. If we introduce optional cloud features in the future, we will update this policy before enabling them.
5. How we use information
- Connect your email accounts and maintain your signed-in session
- Fetch message metadata needed to determine whether new mail has arrived
- Display notification previews and in-app account lists
- Provide customer support when you contact us
6. Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell your personal data.
We share data only as necessary to provide the service, for example:
- With Google and Microsoft (email providers) when the App requests email information on your behalf
- With service providers only if needed for support operations (e.g., an email support inbox). We do not authorize service providers to use your data for their own purposes.
7. Google API Services User Data
MailPop’s use of information received from Google APIs will comply with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data accessed from Google is used only to provide MailPop’s user-facing features (notifications and account display) and is not used for advertising.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical measures designed to protect information stored on your device and to reduce unnecessary access. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to minimize risk.
9. Data retention
- Connected account tokens and settings: retained locally while your account is connected.
- Email metadata used for notifications: processed as needed for notifications; any short-lived caching (if present) is temporary and limited to what is necessary for performance.
10. Your choices and controls
- Disconnect an account inside the App to stop MailPop from accessing that account
- Revoke access from your Google or Microsoft account security settings (this immediately stops access)
- Uninstall the App to remove locally stored data
11. Data deletion requests
Because MailPop stores data locally by default, most deletion requests can be completed by disconnecting accounts and uninstalling the App.
If you need help deleting data, contact us at emre@mailpop.app with the subject line: “MailPop Data Deletion Request”. You can also reach us via the Support page.
12. Children’s privacy
MailPop is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required by your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will update the effective date and provide notice within the App or on our website.
